The Voooo Breath
This breath is specifically designed to stimulate and tone the vagus nerve, which plays a key role in regulating the body’s relaxation response. When you create that deep, resonant “Voooo” sound, it activates the parasympathetic nervous system by gently vibrating the vagus nerve, helping to calm the body and reduce stress.
I love to do this breath after events, dinners, or any high-vibration activity, or just before bed to wind down. Here’s how to do it:
Get Comfortable
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Relax your shoulders, let your hands rest on your lap or at your sides, and take a moment to settle in.Take a Deep Breath In
Breathe in deeply through your nose, filling your belly and chest. Feel the expansion as the air fills your belly and ribs.Exhale with a “Voooo” Sound
On your exhale, let out a long, slow “Voooo” sound, starting deep in your belly. Keep the sound steady and deep, extending the exhale as much as feels comfortable. Imagine the vibration traveling from your belly through your chest and out of your mouth.Feel the Vibration
Tune into the vibration of the “Voooo” sound in your body. Let it ground you. Notice any sensations in your chest, belly, or throat as you make the sound.Pause, Then Repeat
After exhaling fully, pause briefly before your next breath. Repeat this breath 3-5 times, or until you start to feel calm.Notice Any Shifts
When you’re done, take a moment to notice how your body feels. You might feel more grounded, centered, or relaxed.
