Points in the Body That Shouldn’t Be Missed!
I want to emphasize again how important it is—especially during the colder, more “stagnant” months—to keep your flow moving. While this is valuable year-round, it’s particularly beneficial now. Below i have highlighted some key lymph points in the body that are great to give a little rub or massage now and then.
Here’s a breakdown of the six:
Cervical (Neck) Lymph Nodes
Located in the neck area, these nodes help drain lymph from the head, scalp, and neck.
Axillary (Armpit) Lymph Nodes
Found in the armpits, these nodes drain lymph from the arms, chest, and upper abdomen.
Inguinal (Groin) Lymph Nodes
Located in the groin, these nodes drain lymph from the legs, pelvic region, and lower abdomen.
Thoracic (Chest) Lymph Nodes
Found in the chest, particularly near the heart and lungs, these nodes are vital for filtering lymph from the chest cavity and respiratory system.
Abdominal Lymph Nodes
Scattered throughout the abdomen, these nodes drain lymph from the gastrointestinal tract and other abdominal organs.
Popliteal (Knee) Lymph Nodes
Found behind the knees, these nodes drain lymph from the lower legs and feet.
How to Work with Them
Here’s a little breakdown of how to stimulate these points:
Gentle Pressure: Use your fingertips to apply light, circular pressure to each lymph point. Massage in a clockwise motion to encourage flow.
Consistency: Make it part of your routine—just a few minutes daily or as needed can make a big difference.
Pair with Movement: Incorporate gentle stretches, yoga, or a short walk to further support lymphatic flow.
Hydration: Staying well-hydrated helps the lymphatic system function optimally, so pair your practice with plenty of water.
You can incorporate tools or brushes if that feels good. Personally, I make sure my lymphatic system gets a little love every day. For me, it’s easiest in the mornings before a little stretching, but find what works best for you and make it your own!
